Thank you for coming! And thank you for being the kind of teacher who cares enough to come here. Because you’re here, I’m going to assume you are already doing the best you can and I am not going to try to tell you your business. That doesn’t mean I can’t offer you some encouragement and ideas that might improve your situation. We are counting on teachers to tell us what they want to see here so that we may be of more assistance. As funding allows, we will be starting forums and providing more assistance, for now check out our links and read the following suggestions.
1. Unions - Take control of your union. Let them know you want them to put education first. Elect officers that reflect your views. If you can’t find any, run for office!
2. Peer support - Get together with your peers that feel the same as you do. You can offer each other support, look for ways to help and motivate each other (as well as your less motivated co-workers), and work together to initiate or support positive change.
3. Enlist parents - I know many of you already do this, or at least try to. Don’t give up. Brainstorm with your peer group, administration, and the PTA for ways to make this happen. Look for positive ways to convince parents how important it is for them to be involved.
4. Check our Links. Many teachers are already having good results using the Khan Academy tutorials, and even assigning them as homework.
What would you like to see here? What are your specific challenges? Please tell us how we can make this site more helpful. We will be starting a forum to allow you to share your successful strategies, questions, and concerns.
